Positioning

Why this is free

Because the honest cost of running it is close to nothing, and because a measurement tool that withholds its export button is not really a tool.

What you get

Everything. Not a generous free tier — the whole thing:

  • Unlimited measurements in one workspace, not one at a time
  • Chained angles along a polyline, and closed shapes with an angle-sum check
  • Angle snapping, perpendicular snapping, and a grid overlay
  • Scale calibration for real-world lengths
  • Degrees, radians and gradians, at 0–4 decimals
  • PNG at 1×, 2× and 4×, SVG, CSV and JSON — no watermark on any of them
  • Undo and redo, autosave, and crash recovery
  • Full keyboard operation and screen-reader support
  • PDF pages as a measurement surface

What there isn't

  • No ads, and no ad-network scripts in the page
  • No account, no email capture, no newsletter prompt
  • No paid tier — there is no pricing page to visit
  • No upload: your files are opened in your browser
  • Google Analytics for anonymous page visits only (not your files)
  • Self-hosted fonts — no font CDN requests

How to verify all of that

Claims are cheap. These are all checkable in a couple of minutes, and you should check them rather than believe them:

  1. Watch the network. Open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, then load an image and measure something. Your file is not uploaded. You will see Google Analytics requests on page load, but measuring does not send your image or coordinates anywhere.
  2. Work offline. Load the page, disconnect from the internet, and keep measuring. Everything continues to work, including PDF rendering and every export format, because none of it needs a server.
  3. Read the source. View source on any page. There is no ad tag and no tracker.
  4. Look for a sign-in link. There isn't one, anywhere. The absence is the proof.

Why this is sustainable

No hand-waving: the site is static files on a CDN, and the measuring runs on your computer rather than ours. There is no database, no server process and no per-user cost, so traffic does not translate into a bill that has to be recovered from you. That is the entire economic story.

If that ever changed

If a paid tier or advertising were ever introduced, the honest thing would be to say so plainly on this page and in the changelog, on the day it happened — not to quietly move an existing feature behind a wall. Features that work today will not stop working to create an upsell.

One thing that will not change: your measurements stay on your device. That is a consequence of how the tool is built, not a policy that could be revised.
